By Tensions flared at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) as clashes broke out between student groups over the ongoing ban on student politics. Activist Hasnat Abdullah commented on social media, stating, “Those who aspire to be like Chhatra League will face the same fate.” The violence erupted on Tuesday afternoon, leaving around 50 students injured. Protesters accused Chhatra Dal supporters of instigating the attack, while Chhatra Dal denied involvement, claiming they were targeted by pro-Chhatra League groups. Police confirmed that student politics has been banned at KUET since August 5, yet tensions persist. Authorities have deployed two platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to maintain order, while students continue demonstrations demanding justice for their injured peers.
