By A deadly fire broke out at a restaurant in a six-story residential hotel, Saudia Hotel, in Bashhtola, Shahjadpur, Dhaka, on Monday at 12:17 PM. Fire service units arrived promptly and controlled the fire by 1:04 PM. Later, they recovered four male bodies from the sixth floor—three near a locked stairwell door and one in a bathroom. The victims’ identities remain unknown, and authorities are searching for additional casualties. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The incident caused severe traffic congestion, affecting local commuters. Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Gulshan Deputy Commissioner, Md. Tarek Mahmud, confirmed the deaths, stating that the bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College for further procedures.
