By Residents of Dhaka’s Elephant Road are in shock after a local man brutally killed a beloved street dog, Keeper, by striking him with a heavy slab. The 10-year-old dog was well-known and loved by the community. Following the attack, a caretaker, Imtiaz Alam Beg, filed a case with New Market Police Station, leading to the arrest of the perpetrator, Alauddin, who had previously killed other dogs. Enraged locals confronted Alauddin before police intervened and took him into custody. A postmortem is being conducted at Fulbaria Veterinary Hospital, and authorities have assured justice under the Animal Welfare Act 2019. The community remains united in seeking accountability for Keeper’s death.
