By Eminent Rabindra Sangeet artist, educator, and president of Chhayanaut, Sanjida Khatun, has passed away at the age of 92. She breathed her last on Tuesday afternoon at a private hospital in Dhaka, as confirmed by her son, Partha Tanvir Naved.Sanjida Khatun began learning Rabindra Sangeet at the age of five and later became a leading figure in Bangladesh’s cultural sphere. She played a pivotal role in the establishment of Chhayanaut, an institution that has significantly contributed to the practice, education, and expansion of Rabindra Sangeet in the country. Her journey started in 1963 when she initiated music classes at Bangla Academy, which later evolved into Chhayanaut Sangeet Vidyayatan. She leaves behind a lasting legacy in Bangladesh’s cultural heritage.
