Pakistani Foreign Secretary Arrives in Dhaka for Landmark Bilateral Talks

Pakistani Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday, April 16, to participate in a foreign secretary-level meeting with Bangladesh. Her flight landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, where she was welcomed by Ishrat Jahan, Director General of the South Asia Wing at Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This marks the first formal meeting between the two countries’ foreign secretaries since 2010, aiming to address unresolved bilateral issues that have long been in diplomatic limbo. Relations between Dhaka and Islamabad have shown signs of improvement following the fall of the Awami League government in August last year. That same month, Pakistan’s High Commissioner met with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, and later, Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus held talks with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during a UN conference, receiving an invitation to visit Pakistan.
