Hasanath Abdullah, the chief organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in the southern region, emphasized the responsibility of honoring the sacrifices made by those who were martyred or injured in the July Movement. Speaking at the funeral of rickshaw van driver Abdus Samad, who succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained on August 5, he stated that the fallen activists took to the streets not for personal gain but out of love for the country’s progress. He urged collective efforts to build a just society, free from fascism. He also assured support for Samad’s family and requested the local administration to provide them with government aid. The funeral was attended by political leaders, government officials, and locals.
