A major security operation is underway in Pakistan’s Balochistan province after militants seized control of the Jaffar Express train, taking passengers hostage. Security forces have rescued 80 civilians, including men, women, and children, while at least 13 militants have been killed. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that militants planted a bomb on the railway track before boarding the train. Reports indicate that the attackers are in contact with their masterminds in Afghanistan and are using women and children as human shields. Due to the remote location, the rescue operation remains complex. The attack occurred while the train was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack, vowing that the perpetrators will face justice.
