Israeli Military Revises Account of Gaza Aid Worker Deaths Amid New Evidence

The Israeli military has revised its initial explanation for the killing of 15 emergency workers near Rafah in Gaza on March 23. Initially, it claimed that soldiers fired on unmarked vehicles approaching suspiciously in the dark, believing they carried militants from Hamas and Islamic Jihad. However, new video evidence from one victim’s phone—released by the Palestinian Red Crescent—shows clearly marked ambulances and fire trucks with lights on, and uniformed aid workers being shot at. The victims were later found in a shallow grave by the UN and Palestinian Red Crescent. One person remains missing. The military now admits to updated details but says the incident is still under investigation.
