Students from various polytechnic and monotechnic institutes under the Bangladesh Technical Education Board staged a blockade at Tejgaon’s Sat Rasta intersection on Wednesday, causing severe traffic congestion across Dhaka. Organized under the banner of the “Technical Student Movement,” they voiced a six-point demand that includes canceling a controversial High Court ruling, reforming recruitment policies, and forming a separate ministry for technical education. Protesters vowed not to leave the streets until their demands are met, rejecting proposals to go to the Secretariat. Over 1,000 students joined the protest, holding placards and chanting slogans. The demonstration disrupted traffic in Tejgaon, Mohakhali, and surrounding areas, severely affecting commuters, including students and office-goers. Authorities are working to restore normalcy.
