More than 175 World War II-era practice bombs have been discovered at a children’s playground in Northumberland, England, near the Scottish border. The bombs were found during a renovation project at Scots Park in the town of Wooler. Though these were used for training purposes, they still contain active charges, making them potentially dangerous. The first bomb was unearthed on January 14 by construction workers, followed by another the next day. By January 23, the company had discovered a total of 65 practice bombs, prompting further investigation. Local authorities suspect that more bombs might still be buried in the area. Officials are working to secure the site and safely remove the explosives. The discovery has raised concerns about other possible wartime remnants hidden underground.
