Gonodhikar Parishad has demanded the resignation of interim government’s two student advisers, Mahfuz Alam and Asif Mahmud Sojib Bhuiyan, within 15 days. At a press conference held on March 18 in Dhaka’s Paltan, the party warned of strict action, including surrounding the chief adviser’s office if the demand is not met. Secretary General Rashed Khan called for the cancellation of controversial recent WASA recruitment and all student representative appointments in government offices. He also demanded a ban on the Awami League, accusing it of mass killings during the July uprising. Vice President Faruk Hasan claimed Dr. Muhammad Yunus’s neutrality has been compromised by forming a student party, and alleged that certain advisers close to Yunus are working for the Awami League’s agenda and taking financial support from pro-government businessmen.
