Sagar-Runi Murder Case: Probe Deadline Extended for 118th Time

A Dhaka court has extended the deadline for the investigation report in the Sagar-Runi murder case for the 118th time, as the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) failed to submit it. The court set a new date after PBI officer Md. Azizul Haque, also an Additional Superintendent of Police, missed the submission deadline. PBI has already interrogated six individuals, including a retired Supreme Court judge, former military and police officers, and a double murder accused. The agency plans to question journalist Farzana Rupa next. Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi, prominent journalists, were brutally murdered at their Dhaka home on February 11, 2012. Their five-year-old son was present at the time. The case remains unsolved after more than a decade.
