Dhaka, Bangladesh’s overcrowded capital, ranked fourth in the world for poor air quality on Friday, with an AQI score of 186 at 9:10 AM, marking the second consecutive day of unhealthy air. The AQI levels indicate that the air was unhealthy for the general population, especially those with preexisting health conditions. The city faces ongoing pollution challenges, particularly in winter, while air quality typically improves during the monsoon. Other cities with similar or worse air quality include Kathmandu, Beijing, and Mumbai. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), air pollution is responsible for seven million deaths annually worldwide, largely due to respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
