Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bangkok on April 4, following the sixth BIMSTEC summit. The bilateral discussion, held at the Shangri-La Hotel, addressed several critical issues, including the possible extradition of former PM Sheikh Hasina, who is accused of making provocative statements from India. Other key topics included border killings, the renewal of the Ganga water treaty, and progress on the Teesta water-sharing agreement. According to Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, all mutual interests were discussed, and the meeting was described as constructive and productive. This marked the first official meeting between Yunus and Modi since the interim government took office. The leaders had an informal exchange earlier during the summit’s gala dinner.
