Cricket is set to return to the Olympic Games after 128 years, with the sport being included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The matches will take place in Pomona, a city in southwestern United States, where a temporary venue will be built at the Fairplex grounds. Initially, New York was considered as the host city, but LA was ultimately selected. The cricket event will feature both men’s and women’s T20 tournaments, each with six teams and a squad of 15 players, totaling 90 athletes. This move highlights the growing global popularity of the sport. Cricket last appeared in the Olympics in 1900, where Great Britain won gold and France claimed silver. Though considered for the 1986 Athens Olympics, cricket was dropped due to insufficient participating teams.
